Question:
I met someone who just completed a Christian Counseling degree by distance learning. He told me it was from a school called "Cornerstone University", I'd not heard of it before. I located a school by that name in Grand Rapids but it offers no distance learning programs. According to my co-worker, the school he graduated from had "12 centers of learning" across the USA. I am a little befuddled and wonder if he may have graduated from a diploma mill.
The key question is: From *which* Cornerstone did he graduate?
Answer:
I am a current student at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI ( www.cornerstone.edu ).
The University does not offer any Distance Learning courses.
I am an adult attending their Accelerated Degree Program, and will have my Bachelor Degree in Business Management in about another 9 months... and I have to tell you, the course work is not easy by any stretch of the imagination, and from my experience, grade inflation is not occuring. You really have to work hard to make your grades.
Cornerstone incorporated Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary under their auspices a couple of years ago.
GRBS is one of the premier theological schools in the field. They do have a low-residency MRE degree program... but as far as the Christian Counseling one goes... I can not find info on it.
