Adult Education Ny

Question:
If you are aware of any accredited universities that offer DL education doctorates, please let me know ASAP. I need a college that my school district will accept. Personally, I wish U of Phoenix offered a Ed.D.

Can anyone help me or give me some suggestions???

Answer:
Nova Southeastern University (Ft. Lauderdale, FL): The original distanec Ed.D. program by a trailblazer in nontraditional education, and still probably the best of the bunch. Requires summer or short-term residencies on campus, as well as monthly meetings of student "clusters" held in several cities around the U.S. Majors include higher education administration and adult & continuing education, as well as secondary education. Nova has probably graduated more school superintendents and principals than any other program.

University of Sarasota (Sarasota, FL): A recent program, also rgionally accredited, that requires a few one-week residencies on campus plus several independent studies. Several majors available within the Ed.D.

Columbia University (New York, NY): The AEGIS (Adult Education Guided Independent Study) Program is a highly competitive program that requires one or two days on campus each month.

Walden University (Minneapolis, MN): Accredited by the North Central Association, Walden offers both a Ph.D. and Ed.D. in Education; the only difference is that the Ed.D. requires an internship. Also has required residencies.

Also, don't limit yourself to considering an Ed.D. In most circles, the Ph.D. is sitll considered a higher degree because of its academic nd research components, and you can do a Ph.D. in Education at schools such as The Union Institute (the best in the universe, and the most flexible in terms of curriculum and residencies - spoken, of course, with the bias of my being a Union graduate) and The Graduate School of America (which I would avoid since it's only a candidate for regional accreditation at this time, but I thought I'd mention them to be fair - it also doesn't hurt to get their materials so you have the big picture).
