Question:
I am currently a student majoring in Workforce Education. I also am currently working with displaced adults, and I would like to know if anyone had any tips on how I could motivate them to pursue higher education and training outside of the program that I work in. Any motivation tips ???
Answer:
The best tip I can give you as far as motivating your students, is to try to impress upon them the importance of marketability in the workforce. Try to express that they should endeavor to continually find ways to improve their current skills and learn new ones through continuing their education. Explain to them that this is essential to prevent becoming obsolete in their chosen professions.
The only motivation, that I know most people have when it is concerning education is money. I think if you found the pay rates of people with the same credentials as they have, and show them the comparison of those with higher credentials, it might motivate them. You said that you are or will be working with displaced adults so you might try to remind them that higher education helps to ensure them of getting and keeping a job.
