Adult Masters Degree Programs

Question:
Any reason in particular why the thumbs down in CSU. Have you taken courses there? Do you know anyone who has? I am aslo looking at California College for Health Sciences. I am looking to get my Bachelors in Health Science or Health Administration.

Do you know any good Distance Learning schools that I should look into

Answer:
The fact of the matter with many institutions like CSU is, the primary concern is less the value of the education than the value of the degree. I have no personal knowledge of CSU, but I don't recall seeing criticism of their courses or administration in this NG. If your objective were solely to earn that bachelors degree for personal satisfaction then you might enjoy CSU.

The problem enters should you wish to use the degree for something else. Many employers, perhaps a majority, will simply refuse to consider a candidate for a position which requires a degree, if the degree comes from an unaccredited school. Further, should you wish to pursue a graduate level degree some time down the road, you will find that accredited graduate schools will almost certainly not consider a CSU degree, or any other unaccredited diploma, for entrance.

The whole point being, you run the great risk of severely limiting your options and opportunities with an unaccredited degree. CSU certainly looks impressive on paper and might indeed provide value for some people. There are however, a great many accredited programs that you might find just as enjoyable, which won't limit those future opportunities and options which you might not have even yet considered. You might wish to think in terms of the value you will get for your substantial investment of time and effort.
