Alfreds Adult Piano Course

Question:
Im quite new to playing the piano, have been playing for about 1 year now and Im teaching myself because I cant afford lessons. I have been using Alfred Adult piano course and have done book one and nearly book two. I would like to know the following bits of info if anyone can spare a minute to help me

1. what exactly do the three pedals do on the piano and how is the best way to use them?

2. how much would it cost to get my old piano tuned and how often?

Answer:
1. the one on the right holds the the wierd dampening thing up, so you can still hear the notes after you take your hand of the key(s). You would use it for example if you have to play a chord that you can reach with all your fingers at once, or if you want the song to sound "connected" you would use the right peddle, for an example " the piano part for "ave maria" uses that technique. When i learned piano i too used the alfred pinao librrary books, remmeber the right peddle is held down when you see a line like this ----------------- underneath the staff. Also when it looks like this -------/\----, when yous ee the /\, it means you let go of the peddle and imediatly press it back down. Sorry, its kinda complicated, but thats the best i could do.

the middle one makes the piano soft, and a bit harder to play, most people dont use it unless they dont want other people to get mad cause they are making lots of noise

I still havent figured out what the peddle on the left does. lol, so dont use it.

2. sorry, I dont know that one, my parents pay for tuning, not me
