Question:
Can anyone give me some advice on stepping up my skills . I just started to take lessons , desipte that they've been off and on for the pass 1 and 3 months for different reasons ( school closed etc..) . The book that I'm being taught out of is Adult All in One Course Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course Level 1 , I am half way through the book . Progress is slow , but the funny thing is I have a hard time with the lessons that are easy to play ( I think so ) but at time I have a hard time playing the lessons but, sheet music is easy for me to play some of it an way.
Answer:
a general advice for stepping up skills in any instrument: one thing that is needed in any case is practice. The opinions might differ about what to practice; it's not necessarily hard, teeth-grinding exercises - just playing around will in any case have more effect than do nothing. Just spend a certain amount of time with your instrument (an slightly humourous advice I once read was: say "Good morning" to your piano). Don't know if this helps but just some thoughts...
have been playing for about 30 years and I can say that only practice and a lot of dedicationis the answer. Practice !!
