Brookline Adult Learning

Question:
i'm getting married in Brookline in June. We've both been married before and are planning a very small wedding--about 20 people. We're trying to think of an interesting place to have the reception that won't be too expensive. It could be a restaurant, a historic home, or even a cruise boat. i've heard there's a guide for reception sites around Boston, but I don't know where to get it. Does anyone know or have other ideas?

Answer:
The Paine House is a beautiful historic mansion/musuem in Waltham. I went there recently for a wedding and reception and it was lovely.

Also, there is a beautiful mansion on Commonwealth Ave called The Adult Learning (maybe Education) Center. It is an awful name but the mansion is beautiful and it is pratically on the park. If you can't find the number in the phone book take a walk down Comm Ave and it is on the last block before you hit the park. Be sure to have a look inside.

I know that the MFA does weddings so that is a possibility. Though, unfortunatly, the Stuart Gardner museum no longer does wedding due to damage sustained in the past to the art.

The Odyssey is where I am having my reception and I believe you can reserve the admiral's lounge for 20 people.

I can't think of anything directly in Brookline . . . the only restaurant that I can think of that is somewhat upscale is the Elephant Walk but it certainly isn't the cuisine for everyone (French/Cambodian).

Try going to a book store and in the travel section see if you can find something on Boston's Bed and Breakfasts. That might help.
