Question:
I am having problems getting my fields right. I am using freeWAIS-sf 2.0 PL 60 on a Sun Running Solaris 2.5.
When I make the index everything seems to go fine. I don't see any wierd error messages. The fields files have size and the indexer reports that words are being stored into the index files.
When I do a query the results come back with nothing. A text search returns results just fine. I had a similar problem when I didn't have my .fmt file right so I think that it is a problem with that but I am not sure.

Here is the solution for your problem. First of all the way structured fileds work now is that it is sensitive to how you name your fields . For example things like M245 won't work. What I suggest is using something like mi245 ( It doesn't have to be mi it could be anything else, whatever naming convention is better for you!) MI245 won't work either! That' sthe limitations structured features have now. It is probably a bug and will be fixed in the future. Also I didn't quite understand why you are putting Title: and Variable Title: on one line. I've put them on separate lines and just repeated the content of Title: in Variable Title: but I was guessing what you were trying to do so I am not sure if that is acceptable , but at least you have something to start with; Here is what the files look like .fmt file: /--------------------/
