The coach of the girl's basketball team at one of our local highschools was arrested for third degree rape and third degree stalkingof a student. Isn't rape, rape? How can there be degrees?

What if a minor student initiated sexual relations with a coach or teacher andthe adult did little or not enough to stop it? Not to suggest that is the casehere, nor am I excusing responsibility on the part of any adult under similarcircumstances; just a stab at the difference between first and third degreeoffense.
